ch. 6 quest.


-What are the advantages and disadvantages of being in a group of six boys?

People were scared of the boys because they thought they were rebels. People would try to hurt them to protect their families. However being a group of six boys gave them a better chance of escaping their day-to-day troubles.

-How did they avoid confrontation with people in villages?

The boys walked through bushes to avoid causing chaos in villages.

-Who are the muscular men and why are they taking them?

These men were voluntary guards of their village. They were taking the boys back to the village because the chief ordered them to.

-Who saved the boys from being drowned?

A young boy from Mattru Jong vouched for the boys. He told the chief that he had saw the dance performances.

-Explain the internal conflict going on that involves his brother Jr.

Ismael wants his brother to comfort him in his time of need.

-What information did the boys get? Where were they going?

The boys were told that Gibrilla’s aunt was in a village thirty miles from where they were. They were going to that village.

-What were they assigned to do in Kamator?

They were appointed as watchmen in exchange for food and a place to sleep.

-As time passes what was the boy’s new job?

They became farmers later.

-Describe the backbreaking work of clearing the bush?

To clear the bush they had to swing machetes and axes at the trees and palms that had to be cut down to the ground so they wouldn’t grow fast.

-What task was next after clearing the bush?

After the clearing, they let the bush dry and they set it on fire. Next they had to plant cassava.

-Why did Ismeal get into a lot of fights in school?

Ismeal got into a lot of fights in school because the other kids would tease him because his parents were separated.

-How long did they farm for? Why did it eventually go to ruins?

They farmed for three months. The rebels eventually did come and everyone left leaving the crops to waste.
